Abstract
Compounds of the formula where R1 each individually is identical or different and is a hydrocarbon radical, R2 each individually is hydrogen or a methyl radical, n is an integer from 6 to 11, and m is 0 or 1, with the proviso that the sum of the number of carbon atoms in the three radicals R1 in the compound of the formula (I) is 6 to 24, can be admixed with curable polymer compositions to form products with hydrophilic surfaces, or can be applied to surfaces to render them hydrophilic.

A compound of the formula
- where
- R1 each individually is identical or different and is a hydrocarbon radical,
- R2 each individually is hydrogen or a methyl radical,
- n is an integer from 6 to 11 and
- m is 0 or 1,
- with the proviso that the sum of the number of carbon atoms in the three radicals R1 in the compound of the formula (I) is 6 to 24.
A process for modifying a surface of a substrate, comprising applying at least one compound of the formula (I)
- where
- R1 each individually is identical or different and is a hydrocarbon radical,
- R2 each individually is hydrogen or a methyl radical,
- n is an integer from 6 to 11 and
- m is 0 or 1,
- with the proviso that the sum of the number of carbon atoms in the three radicals R1 in the compound of the formula (I) is 6 to 24,
- to the surface of a substrate which has groups which can react with an acrylic acid function.
