Dynamic power management scheme in wireless networks based on power over ethernet (poe)

A method of managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• receiving information related to a connection point;
• determining, based on the information, whether to change an allowable amount of power to consume for servicing a mobile node;
• and
• sending a command to the connection point based on the determination.

A connection point for managing power in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• means for discovering a mobile node;
• means for sending to a gateway a request to increase an amount of power that the connection point is allowed to consume to service the discovered mobile node;
• and
• means for receiving from the gateway a response related to the request to increase the amount of power.

An apparatus for managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• means for receiving information related to a connection point;
• means for determining, based on the information, whether to change an allowable amount of power to consume for servicing a mobile node;
• and
• means for sending a command to the connection point based on the determination.

An apparatus for managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• at least one processing system configured to:
• discover a mobile node;
• send to a gateway a request to increase an amount of power that the connection point is allowed to consume to service the discovered mobile node;
• and
• receive from the gateway a response related to the request to increase the amount of power.

An apparatus for managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• at least one processing system configured to:
• receive information related to a connection point;
• determine, based on the information, whether to change an allowable amount of power to consume for servicing a mobile node;
• and
• send a command to the connection point based on the determination.

A computer program product for managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• a computer-readable medium comprising code for:
• discovering a mobile node;
• sending to a gateway a request to increase an amount of power that the connection point is allowed to consume to service the discovered mobile node;
• and
• receiving from the gateway a response related to the request to increase the amount of power.

A computer program product for managing power of a connection point in a wireless communication network, comprising:

• a computer-readable medium comprising code for:
• receiving information related to a connection point;
• determining, based on the information, whether to change an allowable amount of power to consume for servicing a mobile node;
• and
• sending a command to the connection point based on the determination.
