Claims17
A method of determining the presence of a blood disorder in a subject, said method comprising:
- a) contacting a biological sample obtained from said subject with at least one antibody or antibody fragment immunologically specific for alpha-hemoglobin stabilizing protein (AHSP);
- and
- b) detecting cells bound by said AHSP antibody, wherein an alteration in at least one morphological feature of said biological sample from the subject compared to a biological sample obtained from a normal subject is indicative of said blood disorder.
A method of detecting erythroid precursor cells comprising:
- a) contacting a population of cells with at least one antibody or antibody fragment immunologically specific for alpha-hemoglobin stabilizing protein (AHSP);
- and
- b) detecting cells bound by said AHSP antibody, wherein said cells bound by the AHSP antibody are erythroid precursor cells.
