Additive, composition comprising it and use thereof

A composition comprising

• a) at least one poly acrylate (co)polymer binder and
• b) at least one of
• (i) cross-linked product formed by reacting formaldehyde and a phenol,
• (ii) phenol/formaldehyde condensate,
• (iii) a condensation product formed by reaction of an effective 1-naphthol and formaldehyde, and
• (iv) product based on naphthenic molecules substituted with sulfur compounds at at least one position on the aromatic structure and
• c) the composition optionally comprising less than 2 wt %, preferably less than 1 wt % polyvinyl acetate or partially hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate.

A method of reducing fouling of a reactor in which polymerisable monomers are polymerised comprising the steps of

• i) applying an aqueous dispersion or solution of at least one polyacrylate (co)polymer to a wall of the reactor and
• ii) applying a coating of an antifouling composition comprising at least one of
• (a) cross-linked product formed by reacting formaldehyde and a phenol,
• (b) phenol/formaldehyde condensate,
• (c) condensation product formed by reaction of an effective 1-naphthol and formaldehyde,
• (d) product based on naphthenic molecules substituted with sulfur compounds at at least one position on the aromatic structure to the coated reactor wall.

Polyvinyl chloride comprising polyacrylic ester (co)polymer and optionally at least one of

• (i) cross-linked product formed by reacting formaldehyde and a phenol,
• (ii) a phenol/formaldehyde condensate,
• (iii) a condensation product formed by reaction of 1-naphthol and formaldehyde, and
• (iv) product based on naphthenic molecules substituted with sulfur compounds at at least one position on the aromatic structure.
