Abstract
The invention provides hot melt adhesives comprising (A) a mixture of polymers consisting of (1) an amorphous alpha olefin, (2) an ethylene copolymer that has a Tg value equal to or less than −35° C.; and (3) a styrene block copolymer; and (B) a polyethylene wax grafted with a functional group. These hot melt adhesives have high heat resistance and good low temperature performance, making them particularly well suited for end-of-line packaging application.
Claims18
A hot melt adhesive composition comprising:
- (A) a mixture of polymers consisting of
- (1) an amorphous alpha olefin;
- (2) an ethylene copolymer that has a Tg value equal to or less than −35° C.;
- and
- (3) a styrene block copolymer;
- and
- (B) a polyethylene wax grafted with a functional group;
- wherein the adhesive has a set time of five or less seconds and wherein the adhesive has an improved cold adhesion over an adhesive without any one of the components in (A) or (B).
A hot melt adhesive composition consisting essentially of:
- (A) a mixtures of polymers consisting of
- (1) an amorphous alpha olefin;
- (2) an ethylene copolymer that has a Tg value equal to or less than −35° C.;
- and
- (3) a styrene block copolymer;
- and
- (B) polyethylene wax grafted with a functional group;
- (C) a tackifier;
- and
- (D) a non-functionalized wax;
- wherein the adhesive has a set time of five or less seconds and
- wherein the adhesive has an improved cold adhesion over an adhesive without any one of the components in (A) or (B).
An article comprising a substrate and an adhesive composition consisting essentially of:
- (A) a mixtures of polymers consisting of:
- (1) an amorphous alpha olefin;
- (2) an ethylene copolymer that has a Tg value equal to or less than −27° C.;
- and
- (3) a styrene block copolymer;
- (B) polyethylene wax grafted with a functional group;
- (C) a tackifier;
- and
- (D) a non-functionalized wax;
- wherein the adhesive has a set time of five or less seconds on the substrate and wherein the adhesive has an improved cold adhesion over an adhesive without any one of the components in (A) or (B).
