Abstract
The present invention provides an implanted device that promotes the protection and maintenance of transplanted cells in a host body. The system would provide the transplanted cells with a safe, nutritious environment for survival and would also be suitable for removal of the waste products generated by the cells
Claims38
An implanted apparatus to be implanted in any portion of the body for use as a protective environment for transplanted cells in a host body comprising of:
- a) an interstitial fluid accumulation chamber;
- b) an isolation chamber for the transplanted cells;
- and
- c) a pumping mechanism to transfer fluid from the accumulation chamber to the isolation chamber.
A system for providing nutrients, nourishment and oxygen to transplanted cells using the implanted body's own interstitial fluid comprising:
- a) an interstitial fluid accumulation chamber;
- b) an isolation chamber for the transplanted cells;
- and
- c) means to transfer fluid from the accumulation chamber to the isolation chamber.
A system for providing nutrients, nourishment and oxygen to transplanted cells using the implanted body's own interstitial fluid to provide such nourishment, oxygen and fluid maintenance for the transplanted cells.
A system for providing nutrients, nourishment and oxygen to transplanted cells using the implanted body's own interstitial fluid to provide such nourishment, oxygen and fluid maintenance for the transplanted cells comprised of
- a. an area in which to collect interstitial fluid;
- b. a body in which to isolate transplanted cells;
- and
- c. a pumping mechanism to transfer fluid from the collected interstitial fluid to the body in which the transplanted cells are isolated.
A system for isolating and maintaining transplanted cells with a host body by using the host body's own interstitial fluid to provide nourishment, oxygen and fluid maintenance for the transplanted cells comprised of:
- a. an body in which to collect interstitial fluid;
- b. a body in which to isolate transplanted cells;
- and
- c. at least one pump to transfer fluid from the collected interstitial fluid to the body in which the transplanted cells are isolated.
