Abstract
Methods for treating cognitive dysfunction by modulating brain energy metabolism using cyclocreatine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are discussed.

A method for treating or preventing cognitive dysfunction in a subject having a creatine deficiency in the brain due to creatine transporter dysfunction, the method comprising administering to said subject an effective amount of cyclocreatine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
