Device and Method for Measuring a Maximum Cell Voltage

An electric motor vehicle, comprising:

• a battery including a battery management unit having a plurality of series-connected battery cells and a device configured to measure a maximum cell voltage among cell voltages of the plurality of series-connected battery cells, the device including a plurality of series-connected nonreactive resistors,
• wherein the device is configured to be connected to the plurality of series-connected battery cells such that a battery cell of the plurality of series-connected battery cells is assigned to each nonreactive resistor of the plurality of series-connected nonreactive resistors in accordance with the series connections,
• wherein a first nonreactive resistor of the plurality of series-connected nonreactive resistors, which precedes all of the other nonreactive resistors in the series connection, is configured to conduct a current which corresponds to the cell voltage of the assigned battery cell, and
• wherein each nonreactive resistor of the plurality of series-connected nonreactive resistors except the first nonreactive resistor is configured to conduct the greater of (i) a current which corresponds to the cell voltage of the assigned battery cell, and (ii) a current which is conducted by a preceding nonreactive resistor in the series connection.
