Abstract
A method includes receiving closed captioning data at a computing device. The closed captioning data is associated with a video on demand asset and is represented in a first format. The method also includes, during a single video on demand streaming session, converting the closed captioning data from the first format to a platform-independent format and converting the closed captioning data from the platform-independent format to a second format. The method further includes transmitting, during the single video on demand streaming session, the closed captioning data in the second format to a destination device.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving closed captioning data at a computing device, wherein the closed captioning data includes a first portion and a second portion;
- modifying the closed captioning data at the computing device, wherein modifying the closed captioning data comprises assigning a first font characteristic to the first portion and assigning a second font characteristic to the second portion, wherein the second font characteristic is different from the first font characteristic;
- and
- transmitting the modified closed captioning data from the computing device to a destination device.
An apparatus comprising:
- a processor;
- an input interface to receive closed captioning data wherein the closed captioning data includes a first portion and a second portion;
- a converter executable by the processor to associate text of the first portion to a first color;
- and
- an output interface configured to transmit the closed captioning data to a destination device.
A computer-readable storage device comprising instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:
- receive closed captioning data including first data and second data, wherein the second data comprises pass-through data;
- convert the first data to a second format while refraining from modifying the second data;
- and
- transmit the first data in the second format and the unmodified second data to a destination device.
