Abstract

Aspects of the invention may be found in a method and system for communicating media and may comprise controlling communication of media from a television without consuming the media by the television. Under control of the television, the media may be transferred from a first location to at least one media peripheral located at a second location. A command initiated from or through the television may also cause media to be transfer from the first location to the second location. At least one command may be received that may effectuate the transfer of media from the first location to the second location. Accordingly, at least one request may be received by the television and utilized to facilitate or control transfer of the media. The television may redirect media from a first location to a second location with the media being received and/or consumed by the television.

Dependent claims

A method operable for communication of media, comprising:

generating a media guide having a plurality of channels by a first media processing system by:
associating one or more channels of the plurality of channels to personal media content stored on at least one personal media device operatively coupled to the first media processing system;
and
associating one or more channels of the plurality of channels to broadcast media content, wherein the broadcast media content is selected from broadcast channels transmitted by at least one broadcast service provider;
receiving a selection of one of the plurality of channels in the media guide associated with the personal media content;
receiving a request to transfer the personal media content associated with the selected channel to a second media processing system;
and
transferring the personal media content associated with the selected channel by the first media processing system to the second media processing system.

A media processing system, comprising:

a user interface;
a processing unit operable to:
generate a personal media view of personal media content for display on the user interface;
receive a selection of one or more of the personal media content from the personal media view;
assign one or more channels to the selected personal media content;
generate a media guide having a plurality of channels, wherein the plurality of channels include the one or more channels assigned to the selected personal media content and one or more channels assigned to broadcast media content;
receive a selection of one of the plurality of channels of the media guide assigned to the selected personal media content and a request to transfer the selected personal media content assigned to the selected one of the plurality of channels to a second media processing system;
and
transfer the selected personal media content assigned to the selected one of the plurality of channels to the second media processing system.
