Automated Content Signing for Point-of-Sale Applications in Fuel Dispensing Environments

A method for obtaining manufacturer-signed content for use with manufacturer equipment in a fuel dispensing environment, comprising:

• obtaining, using processing circuitry, content for executing or presenting on manufacturer equipment;
• generating a signature for the content based at least in part on a private key;
• transmitting the content and the signature to a manufacturer server;
• and
• obtaining a manufacturer signature and the content from the manufacturer server in response to transmitting the content and the signature to the manufacturer server.

A system for automatically signing content received from an authenticated merchant in a fuel dispensing environment, comprising:

• a content receiving component for obtaining signed content from a merchant device;
• a signature verifying component for determining whether a signature decrypted from the signed content is authentic;
• a content re-signing component for signing the content with a manufacturer signature where the signature is authentic;
• and
• a signed content delivering component for transmitting the content and the manufacturer signature to the merchant device.

A method for automatically signing content received from an authenticated merchant in a fuel dispensing environment, comprising:

• obtaining signed content from a merchant device;
• decrypting a signature obtained with the signed content;
• determining, using processing circuitry, whether the decrypted signature is authentic;
• signing the content with a manufacturer signature where the signature is authentic;
• and
• transmitting the content and the manufacturer signature to the merchant device.
