Abstract
Methods of using computer based models for simulating the physical behavior of bodily fluids with absorbent articles.
Claims20
A method of simulation, comprising:
- representing an absorbent article with a computer based model of the absorbent article, wherein the absorbent article includes an absorbent material represented by elements, and wherein the elements representing the absorbent material have element lengths that are less than or equal to 0.5 millimeters;
- first transforming the model of the absorbent article by simulating a fitting of the absorbent article onto a human body to form a computer based model that represents the fitted absorbent article;
- representing a bodily fluid with a computer based model of the bodily fluid represented by elements, wherein the elements representing the bodily fluid have element lengths that are less than or equal to one millimeter;
- and
- second transforming the model of the absorbent article by simulating a provision of the bodily fluid to the fitted absorbent article to form a computer based model that represents a distribution of the bodily fluid and the fitted absorbent article, as a fitted, wet absorbent article.

A method of simulation, comprising:
- representing an absorbent article with a computer based model of the absorbent article, wherein the absorbent article includes an absorbent material represented by cells, and wherein the cells representing the absorbent material have cell lengths that are less than or equal to 0.5 millimeters;
- first transforming the model of the absorbent article by simulating a fitting of the absorbent article onto a human body, using finite element analysis, to form a computer based model that represents the fitted absorbent article;
- representing a bodily fluid with a computer based model of the bodily fluid represented by cells;
- and
- second transforming the model of the absorbent article by simulating a provision of the bodily fluid to the fitted absorbent article, using computational fluid dynamics, to form a computer based model that represents a distribution of the bodily fluid and the fitted absorbent article, as a fitted, wet absorbent article.
