High Resolution Organic Light-Emitting Diode Devices, Displays, and Related Method

An organic light-emissive display, comprising:

• a plurality of electrodes disposed on a substrate, wherein the plurality of electrodes are arranged in an array configuration;
• a confinement structure disposed on the substrate, wherein the confinement structure that surrounds the plurality of electrodes;
• a first hole conducting layer disposed over the plurality of electrodes within the confinement structure, wherein a liquid affinity property of surface portions of the first hole conducting layer are altered to define emissive layer confinement regions within the first hole conducting layer;
• and
• an organic light-emissive layer disposed within each emissive layer confinement region.

An organic light-emissive display made by a process comprising:

• providing a substrate comprising a plurality of electrodes disposed on the substrate;
• depositing, via inkjet printing, at least one hole conducting layer over the plurality of electrodes on the substrate;
• altering a liquid affinity property of select surface portions of at least one hole conducting layer to define emissive layer confinement regions on a surface of the at least one hole conducting layer;
• and
• depositing, via inkjet printing, an organic light-emissive layer within each emissive layer confinement region defined within the at least one hole conducting layer.
