Connector hub apparatus for catheter and methods of use

A method of using a catheter hub, comprising the steps of:

• a. providing a multi-lumen catheter having a collapsible filter attached to the distal end of the multi-lumen catheter;
• b. providing a hub;
• c. disposing multi-lumen catheter within longitudinal lumen of core member;
• d. fixing the multi-lumen catheter within the longitudinal lumen of the core member by use of an adhesive;
• e. sliding the distal end of multi-lumen catheter through the longitudinal lumen of the sealing member, the hemostatic valve, and the longitudinal lumen of the distal hub member and into outer sheath of distal hub member such that filer is constrained in a collapsed state by outer sheath;
• f. disposing the outer sheath within a venous lumen of a patient;
• g. disposing the core member through central mounting section of the proximal hub member such that the annular detent of the core member is distal the distal end of the central mounting section and the o-ring interfaces with the longitudinal lumen of the sealing member;
• and
• h. translating the proximal hub member and the distal hub member towards each other such that the resilient projection enters the open distal end of the proximal hub member, deflects radially inwards, and reflects to its original orientation by passing through the aperture formed in the proximal hub member, interfacing with the distal interfacing surface of the catch and coupling removably the distal hub member and the proximal hub member, thereby translating the filter distal the distal end of the outer sheath, allowing the filter to expand from the collapsed state to an expanded state.
