Dressing assemblies for wound treatment using reduced pressure

A dressing assembly for use with a reduced pressure treatment system, the dressing assembly comprising:

• a dressing bolster comprising an oblique extremity, a first surface, and a second surface;
• an over-drape disposed over the oblique extremity and the first surface, wherein the over-drape extends beyond the dressing bolster to form a drape extension;
• and
• an adhesive perimeter strip coupled to the drape extension and operable to provide a seal between a patient and the over-drape.

A dressing assembly for use with a reduced pressure treatment system, the dressing assembly comprising:

• a dressing bolster comprising a medical bolster material forming a first surface, a second surface, and an oblique extremity;
• a drape configured to be disposed over the first surface of the dressing bolster;
• and
• a drape sealing apparatus coupled to the drape for sealing the drape to an epidermis;
• wherein the medical bolster material has a density greater than 20 kg/m3;
• and
• wherein the dressing bolster has a characteristic of evenly distributing a directed force under a reduced pressure.

A method of manufacturing a shaped dressing bolster for use with a reduced pressure treatment system, the method comprising:

• providing a medical bolster material;
• and
• forming a shaped dressing bolster having a first surface, a second surface, and an oblique extremity, wherein the shaped dressing bolster is formed from the medical bolster material;
• wherein the shaped dressing bolster is operable to distribute reduced pressure and to evenly distribute a radial, compressive force.
