Techniques for managing three-dimensional graphics display modes

At least one machine readable medium comprising a plurality of instructions that in response to being executed on a computing device, cause the computing device to

• receive, by a processor circuit, context information from a graphics application, the context information associated with a graphics context;
• access a three dimensional (3D)-aware graphics context data structure;
• executing the context information in a 3D display mode when the 3D-aware graphics context data structure includes an entry corresponding to the graphics context;
• and
• execute the context information in a non-3D display mode when the 3D-aware graphics context data structure does not include the entry corresponding to the graphics context.

An apparatus, comprising:

• a processor circuit operative to execute a graphics application;
• a graphics tracking module operative on the processor circuit to manage a three dimensional (3D)-aware graphics context data structure;
• a graphics management module operative on the processor circuit to receive, from the graphics application, context information associated with a graphics context, and access the 3D-aware graphics context data structure;
• and
• a graphics processing module operative on the processor circuit to execute the context information in a 3D display mode when the 3D-aware graphics context data structure includes an entry corresponding to the graphics context, and to execute the context information in a non-3D display mode when the 3D-aware graphics context data structure does not include the entry corresponding to the graphics context.
