Abstract
Methods and systems are described herein for quickly and easily displaying supplemental information about an event occurring in a media asset. In some embodiments, a media application may use a content-recognition module to determine the context of an event and distribute itemized tasks to multiple entities in order to generate the supplemental information about the event.
Claims30
A method for providing supplemental content associated with a media asset, the method comprising:
- transmitting, to a plurality of users, a request for additional information regarding a context of an event in a media asset, wherein the event is a statement during the media asset, and wherein the additional information includes data used to determine a factual basis of the statement;
- receiving messages from the plurality of users that include the additional information;
- generating supplemental information associated with the context of the event based on the messages, wherein the generated supplemental information is based on a comparison of the additional information included in the messages from the plurality of users;
- and
- generating for display the generated supplemental information on a user device.

A system for providing supplemental content associated with a media asset, the system comprising control circuitry configured to:
- transmit, to a plurality of users, a request for additional information regarding a context of an event in a media asset, wherein the event is a statement during the media asset, and wherein the additional information includes data used to determine a factual basis of the statement;
- receive messages from the plurality of users that include the additional information;
- generate supplemental information associated with the context of the event based on the messages, wherein the generated supplemental information is based on a comparison of the additional information included in the messages from the plurality of users;
- and
- generate for display the generated supplemental information on a user device.

- means for transmitting, to a plurality of users, a request for additional information regarding a context of an event in a media asset, wherein the event is a statement during the media asset, and wherein the additional information includes data used to determine a factual basis of the statement;
- means for receiving messages from the plurality of users that include the additional information;
- means for generating supplemental information associated with the context of the event based on the messages, wherein the generated supplemental information is based on a comparison of the additional information included in the messages from the plurality of users;
- and
- means for generating for display the generated supplemental information on a user device.
