Dynamically reacting policies and protections for securing mobile financial transaction data in transit

A method for securing a mobile financial transaction, the method comprising:

• computing, based on a predetermined valuation formula, a value associated with a data message to be communicated;
• computing, based on an attack signature and a first protection mechanism, a probability that security of the data message will be compromised;
• computing a total risk level based on the value associated with the data message and the probability that security of the data message will be compromised;
• and
• selecting, from a plurality of security policies stored in a database, a security policy that results in a risk level within a predetermined risk threshold.

A system for securing a mobile financial transaction, the system comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor and the memory cooperate to:
• compute, based on a predetermined valuation formula, a value associated with a data message to be communicated,
• compute, based on an attack signature and a first protection mechanism, a probability that security of the data message will be compromised,
• compute a total risk level based on the value associated with the data message and the probability that security of the data message will be compromised, and
• select, from a plurality of security policies stored in a database, a security policy that results in a risk level within a predetermined risk threshold.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions, the sequences of instructions including instructions which, when executed by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform:

• computing, based on a predetermined valuation formula, a value associated with a data message to be communicated;
• computing, based on an attack signature and a first protection mechanism, a probability that security of the data message will be compromised;
• computing a total risk level based on the value associated with the data message and the probability that security of the data message will be compromised;
• and
• selecting, from a plurality of security policies stored in a database, a security policy that results in a risk level within a predetermined risk threshold.
