Abstract
A flexible package is disclosed. The flexible package includes at least one shape memory closure provided at an access opening of the package. A method of forming and dispensing contents from a flexible package is also disclosed. Various shape memory closures can be bubble-shaped or dome-shaped and can be hollow fluid-filled, solid, and the like.
Claims11
A method of forming a flexible package, comprising:
- providing a first panel portion and a second panel portion, the first panel portion including an interior surface and an exterior surface, wherein at least the first and second panel portions define the flexible package having an interior compartment and an access opening;
- providing a closure strip including a plurality of shape memory closures protruding from the closure strip, with each of the plurality of shape memory closures being generally the same shape and size and spaced from each other;
- and
- sealing at least one of the plurality of shape memory closures of the closure strip to the interior surface of the first panel portion at the access opening to operatively cooperate with the second panel portion to temporarily seal the access opening.
