Abstract
Disclosed are processes, systems and apparatuses for providing positioning data, such as assistance data, to a mobile device for use in performing positioning or navigation operations. In particular implementations, the positioning data is based, at least in part, on particular capabilities of the mobile device, for example a processing platform of the mobile device. In other implementations, positioning data provided to a mobile device may be tailored according to a cost function.
Claims48
A method comprising, at a mobile device:
- transmitting one or more request messages for positioning data, said one or more request messages indicating a capability of said mobile device;
- and
- in response to at least one of said one or more request messages, receiving one or more response messages comprising positioning data based on the indicated capability.
A mobile device comprising:
- a transceiver to facilitate communication through a wireless network;
- and
- one or more processors to:
- initiate transmission of one or more request messages through said transceiver for positioning data, said request messages indicating a capability of said mobile device;
- and
- obtain positioning data in one or more response messages received at said transceiver in response to said one or more request messages, said positioning data based on the indicated capability.
A non-transitory storage medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon which are executable by a special-purpose computing apparatus to:
- initiate transmission of one or more request messages for positioning data, said request messages indicating a capability of said mobile device;
- and
- obtain positioning data in one or more response messages received in response to said one or more request messages, said positioning data being based on the indicated capability.
An apparatus comprising:
- means for transmitting one or more request messages for positioning data, said one or more request messages indicating a capability of a mobile device;
- and
- means for receiving one or more response messages transmitted in response to at least one of said one or more request messages comprising positioning data based on the indicated capability.
A method comprising, at a server:
- receiving one or more request messages from a mobile device requesting positioning data;
- identifying a capability of said mobile device based, at least in part, on at least one of said request messages;
- and
- transmitting one or more response messages to the mobile device including positioning data based, at least in part, on the identified capability.
A server comprising:
- a transceiver to facilitate communication over a network;
- and
- one or more processors to:
- obtain one or more request messages from a mobile device for positioning data received at said transceiver;
- identify a capability of said mobile device based, at least in part, on at least one of said request messages;
- and
- initiate transmission of one or more response messages through said transceiver to the mobile device including positioning data based, at least in part, on the identified capability.
A non-transitory storage medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon which are executable by a special purpose computing apparatus to:
- obtain one or more request messages from a mobile device requesting positioning data;
- identify a capability of said mobile device based, at least in part, on at least one of said request messages;
- and
- initiate transmission of one or more response messages to the mobile device including positioning data based, at least in part, on the identified capability.
An apparatus comprising:
- means for receiving one or more request messages from a mobile device requesting positioning data;
- means for identifying a capability of said mobile device based, at least in part, on at least one of said request messages;
- and
- means for transmitting one or more response messages to the mobile device including positioning data based, at least in part, on the identified capability.
