Method for operating a mobile terminal operable in at least one communication network for a change of connection in a communication network, wherein radio cells of a first type and radio cells of a second type are formed by at least one communication network, comprising the following steps:

• evaluating an information item regarding the local position of the mobile terminal in a service area of a radio cell of the first type with regard to an entry of the mobile terminal into the service area of a radio cell of the first type, which entry is to be expected within a predefined time interval;
• and
• suppressing a change of connection of the mobile terminal to a radio cell of the second type if, based on the result of the evaluation, the entry of the mobile terminal into the service area of the radio cell of the first type can be expected within the predefined time interval.
