Method and system for wireless communication

A wireless communication system consisting of a plurality of base stations each associated with a cell, the plurality of cells being separated by a distance such that each cell has a complete coverage area surrounding its base station and a hand-off region in between complete coverage area, the system comprising:

• means for assigning hand-off frequency to one or more base station called as hand-off base station located within the service area;
• means for assigning frequencies other than hand-off frequency to the hand-off base station in its capacity as serving base station and assigning frequencies other than hand-off frequency to other base stations called as serving base stations located within the service area;
• means for selecting one or more dedicated hand-off base station, located strategically within the service area such that the hand-off frequency transmitted with certain transmission power, covers the entire service area;
• and
• means for selecting one or more hand-off base station from among the serving base stations in a service area, such that the hand-off frequency transmitted with certain power, covers the entire service area.

A hand-off base station, in a wireless communication network comprising;

• A transceiver;
• for communicating on hand-off frequency with the subscriber station on the hand-off region;
• for communicating on frequency other than hand-off frequency in the capacity of serving base station with subscriber stations located within its cell;
• and.
• A processor for understanding and processing the received uplink communication from the subscriber stations on the hand-off frequency and for understanding and processing the communication received from other serving base stations located within the service area;
• and
• A memory for retaining instructions for executing functions associated with the transceivers and processor/processors, as well as measured or computed data that may be generated during executing such functions.
