Abstract
A prophylactic antiallergenic composition includes at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein. The arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein is isolated from a grass or corresponds in its structural arrangement to an arabinogalactan that can be isolated from a grass.
Claims21
A method of reducing a likelihood of, protecting against or treating allergic diseases or chronic inflammatory diseases, comprising:
- administering a prophylactic antiallergenic composition comprising at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein into a mammal that is in need of such reduction, protection or treatment,
- wherein said at least one arabinogalactan or arabinogalactan protein is isolated from at least one grass or corresponds in its structural arrangement to an arabinogalactan isolatable from at least one grass,
- wherein the allergic diseases or chronic inflammatory diseases are selected from the group consisting of IgE-dependent Type I allergic diseases or Type IV allergic diseases, chronic inflammatory skin diseases, and autoimmune diseases.
The method according to claim 9, wherein the bacteria are selected from Lactococcus lactis.
