Abstract
Hydrogels based on gelatin crosslinked with N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) are disclosed. The hydrogels according to the invention are useful for cell culture, growth and proliferation, for the controlled release of bioactive molecules, and to promote tissue regeneration.
Claims15
Hydrogel of gelatin cross-linked with bisacrylamides of primary or secondary amines which are selected from N,N′-methylene-bisacrylamide (MBA), N,N′-ethylene-bisacrylamide, bisacryloylpiperazine, bisacryloylcystamine and N,N′-polyoxyalkylen-bisacrylamide, wherein said hydrogel is obtainable by a Michael-type addition reaction process via the nucleophilic addition of free amino groups in gelatin and the α,β unsaturated carbonyl group in the selected bisacrylamide, said process comprising the following steps:
- (a) reacting gelatin with bisacrylamide in a water medium obtaining a product;
- (b) purifying the product obtained in step (a);
- (c) optionally drying or lyophilizing lyophilisation.
