Methods, Apparatus and Systems for Inter-Converged Gateway (ICGW) Communications

An apparatus for discovering a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a network comprising:

• a processor, the processor being configured to:
• identify a WTRU in communication with a network node belonging to a first subnet;
• establish a data tunnel to a second apparatus in a second subnet, the apparatus being able to communicate with the WTRU using a radio access technology within the second subnet;
• and
• send an identity of the WTRU to the apparatus in the second subnet.

An apparatus for discovering a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a network, the apparatus comprising:

• a processor, the processor being configured to:
• identify a first connection between a WTRU and a first subnet;
• identify a second connection between the WTRU and a second subnet;
• establish a data tunnel to a second apparatus, the second apparatus being able to utilize a plurality of radio access technologies within the second subnet;
• and
• associate an identity of the WTRU with the first connection and the second connection such that data can be sent to the WTRU using the first connection or the second connection.

A method for providing dynamic mobility management by discovering a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a network comprising:

• identifying a WTRU in communication with a node belonging to a first subnet;
• establishing a data tunnel to an apparatus via a local mobility anchor (LMA), the apparatus being able to communicate with the WTRU using a radio access technology within a second subnet;
• and
• sending an identity of the WTRU to the apparatus via the data tunnel.

A method for providing dynamic mobility management by discovering a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a network, the method comprising:

• identifying a WTRU in communication with a first subnet;
• establishing a data tunnel to a second apparatus in a second subnet, the apparatus being able to communicate with the WTRU using a radio access technology within the second subnet;
• and
• sending an identity of the WTRU to the apparatus.

A method for managing data flow for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a communication network, the method comprising:

• identifying a first radio access technology (RAT) linkage in a first subnet for a WTRU;
• sending a request message including an identifier of the WTRU to a converged gateway (CGW) for connecting radio access technologies within a second subnet;
• receiving an acknowledgement message from the CGW identifying a second RAT linkage for the WTRU;
• and
• storing serving information indicating that the WTRU is able to receive data via the first RAT linkage or via the second RAT linkage.
