Method and apparatus for early termination of an rx chain

An apparatus of wireless communication, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• receive a transmit power control (TPC) command from a network entity at a user equipment (UE), wherein the TPC command is divided into TPC slots;
• decode every TPC slot of the TPC command resulting in a decoded symbol for every TPC slot of the TPC command;
• determine when a current decoded symbol of the TPC slot is in disagreement with a previous decoded symbol in the TPC slot set;
• cease the decoding of a TPC slot set when the current decoded symbol of the TPC slot is in disagreement with the previous decoded symbol of the TPC slot;
• deactivate a receiver of the UE until an end of the TPC slot set.

An apparatus of wireless communication, comprising:

• means for receiving a transmit power control (TPC) command from a network entity at a user equipment (UE), wherein the TPC command is divided into TPC slots;
• means for decoding every TPC slot of the TPC command resulting in a decoded symbol for every TPC slot of the TPC command;
• means for determining when a current decoded symbol of the TPC slot is in disagreement with a previous decoded symbol in the TPC slot;
• means for ceasing the decoding of a TPC slot set when the current decoded symbol of the TPC slot is in disagreement with the previous decoded symbol of the TPC slot;
• means for deactivating a receiver of the UE until an end of the TPC slot set.

A computer program product stored on a computer readable medium, comprising code for:

• receiving a transmit power control (TPC) command from a network entity at a user equipment (UE), wherein the TPC command is divided into TPC slots;
• decoding every TPC slot of the TPC command resulting in a decoded symbol for every TPC slot of the TPC command;
• determining when a current decoded symbol of the TPC slot is in disagreement with a previous decoded symbol in the TPC slot;
• ceasing the decoding of a TPC slot set when the current decoded symbol of the TPC slot is in disagreement with the previous decoded symbol in of TPC slot;
• deactivating a receiver of the UE until an end of the TPC slot set.
