Abstract
An extinguisher identifying device. The device comprises an extinguisher identifying device and an activation device, and a communications module. The extinguisher identifying device reads an identifying element on an extinguisher to obtain identifying data of the extinguisher. The activation device is configured to activate the extinguisher identifying device in response to a predetermined event. The communications module is configured to transmit the extinguisher identifying data to a management device.

Extinguisher identifying device, comprising
- an extinguisher reading device for receiving extinguisher identifying data from an identifying element on the extinguisher;
- a activation device for activating the identifying means in response to a predetermined event;
- a communication module for transmitting the extinguisher identifying data to a management device;
- a detector for detecting an absence of an extinguisher from an extinguisher operating position on a mount;
- wherein the activation device is configured to activate the extinguisher reading device at predefined times after the detector has detected a removal of the extinguisher from the mount and the detector has detected a presence of the extinguisher back on the mount.
A monitoring method for a security system comprising a management device and at least the extinguisher identifying device configured to communicate with the management device over a wireless connection;
- the method comprising the steps of:
- activating the extinguisher identifying device's identifying means;
- obtaining identifying data for an extinguisher via the extinguisher identifying device from an identifying element on the extinguisher;
- transmitting identifying data to the management device;
- and
- verifying the identifying data.
