Abstract
A hinge assembly comprising first and second hinge plates mounted for relative rotation about a pivot. The first hinge plate comprises a mount for coupling to a door component and the hinge assembly is arranged to permit a degree of relative linear movement between the second hinge plate and a door component coupled to the mount, independent of the relative rotational position of the first and second hinge plates within their range of relative rotation about the pivot.
Claims23
A hinge assembly comprising first and second hinge plates mounted for relative rotation about a pivot, wherein:
- the first hinge plate comprises a mount for coupling to a door component;
- and
- the hinge assembly is arranged to permit a degree of relative linear movement between the second hinge plate and a door component coupled to the mount, independent of the relative rotational position of the first and second hinge plates within their range of relative rotation about the pivot.
A method of engaging a door with a door frame, the method comprising steps of:
- arranging a hinge assembly to couple the door and the door frame, the hinge assembly comprising first and second hinge plates mounted for relative rotation about a pivot, the first hinge plate comprising a mount for coupling to the door or door frame, the hinge assembly arranged to permit a degree of relative linear movement between the second hinge plate and the door or door frame coupled to the mount, independent of the relative rotational position of the first and second hinge plates within their range of relative rotation about the pivot;
- and
- pressing the door against the door frame to move the mount relative to the second hinge plate.
