Abstract
An electronic device and a method for inputting information through touch input device of an electronic device is provided. The method inputs information including at least one of symbols and characters through touching of a screen displayed on the touch input device, and executes a specific application capable of processing the input information.

An electronic device comprising:
- a memory configured to store data;
- a touch input module comprising a display screen and configured to receive a touch input via the display screen;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- cause displaying of a background screen on the display screen;
- receive handwriting input on the background screen;
- recognize a handwriting input comprising at least one symbol or character, the handwriting input being received via the display screen;
- and
- control the memory to store a memo with the background screen, the stored memo generated by the handwriting input and included as a part of the background screen .

A method for controlling an electronic device, the method comprising:
- displaying a background screen on a display screen of the device;
- receiving handwriting input on the background screen;
- recognizing a handwriting input comprising at least one symbol or character via the display screen;
- and
- storing a memo with the background screen in a memory of the device, the stored memo generated by the handwriting input and included as a part of the background screen.
