Memory Device Readout Using Multiple Sense Times

An apparatus, comprising:

• a memory device including a plurality of memory cell groups, wherein each memory cell group of the plurality of memory cell groups includes a plurality of memory cells;
• and
• a memory controller coupled to the memory device, wherein the memory controller is configured to:
• receive input data to be stored in a memory device;
• encode to the received input data using an Error Correction Code (ECC) to generate an ECC code word;
• divide the ECC code word into a plurality of code word parts;
• store each code word part of the plurality of code word parts into a respective memory cell group of the plurality of memory cell groups;
• retrieve at least one of the stored plurality of code words parts using a first sense time;
• and
• retrieve at least another one on the stored plurality of code word parts using a second sense time, wherein the second sense time is longer than the first sense time.

A computer-accessible non-transitory storage medium, having program instructions stored therein that, in response to execution by a computer system, cause the computer system to perform operations comprising:

• receiving input data to be stored in a memory device, wherein the memory device includes a plurality of memory cell groups, wherein each memory cell group includes a plurality of memory cells;
• encoding to the received input data using an Error Correction Code (ECC) to generate an ECC code word;
• dividing the ECC code word into a plurality of code word parts;
• storing each code word part of the plurality of code word parts into a respective memory cell group of the plurality of memory cell groups;
• retrieving at least one of the stored plurality of code word parts using a first sense time;
• and
• retrieving at least another one of the stored plurality of code word parts using a second sense time, wherein the second sense time is longer than the first sense time.
