Abstract
A medical imaging system includes a first x-ray image detector, a first x-ray generator, and a motorized turntable. The first x-ray image detector and the first x-ray generator are each mounted on a base and positioned opposite each other such that x-rays are projected from the first x-ray generator to the first x-ray image detector through a first imaging volume. The motorized turntable is positioned below the first imaging volume and between the first x-ray image detector and the first x-ray generator and is configured to rotate an imaging subject within the imaging volume.
Claims22
A medical imaging system, comprising:
- a first x-ray image detector mounted on a base;
- a first x-ray generator mounted on the base and opposite the first x-ray image detector such that x-rays are projected from the first x-ray generator to the first x-ray image detector through a first imaging volume;
- and
- a motorized turntable mounted below a first imaging volume and between the first x-ray image detector and the first x-ray generator.
A method of generating a three-dimensional digital representation of an imaging subject with a medical imaging system, the medical imaging system including a x-ray generator, a x-ray image detector, a motorized turn-table, and a circular track, the method comprising:
- positioning the imaging subject on the turn-table;
- activating a first x-ray generator and a first x-ray image detector;
- rotating the motorized turn-table in a first direction;
- rotating the first x-ray generator and the first x-ray image detector on the circular track in a second direction, wherein the first direction is different than the second direction;
- and
- generating a three-dimensional model of an imaging subject based on image data from the first x-ray image detector.
