The present invention provides for a polyketide synthase (PKS) capable of synthesizing an even-chain or odd-chain diacid or lactam or diamine. The present invention also provides for a host cell comprising the PKS and when cultured produces the even-chain diacid, odd-chain diacid, or KAPA. The present invention also provides for a host cell comprising the PKS capable of synthesizing a pimelic acid or KAPA, and when cultured produces biotin.
A non-naturally occurring polyketide synthase (PKS) capable of synthesizing an even-chain diacid.
(canceled)
A non-naturally occurring polyketide synthase (PKS) capable of synthesizing an even-chain diacid, wherein the PKS comprises a mutant non-ribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) domain capable of loading succinic acid.
A non-naturally occurring polyketide synthase (PKS), wherein the non-naturally occurring PKS is capable of synthesizing a 7-keto-8-amino-pelargonic acid (KAPA), the non-naturally occurring PKS is capable of synthesizing malonic acid, the non-naturally occurring PKS is capable of synthesizing a lactam, or the non-naturally occurring PKS is capable of synthesizing a diamine.
-21. (canceled)
A non-naturally occurring polyketide synthase/non-ribosomal peptide synthetase hybrid (PKS/NRPS), wherein the non naturally occurring PKS/NRPS is capable of synthesizing a lactam or the non-naturally occurring PKS/NRPS is capable of synthesizing a diamine.
