Image reading apparatus

An image reading apparatus, comprising:

• a light source configured to illuminate an original;
• a color sensor and a monochrome sensor configured to receive light reflected from the original illuminated by the light source to output an image signal, the color sensor being a sensor configured to output a color image signal, and the monochrome sensor being a sensor configured to output a monochrome image signal;
• an adjustment portion configured to adjust the color image signal from the color sensor by use of color adjustment condition and adjust the monochrome image signal from the monochrome sensor by use of monochrome adjustment condition;
• a reference member;
• and
• a setting portion configured to set the color adjustment condition and the monochrome adjustment condition based on a color image signal from the color sensor that receives light reflected from the reference member illuminated by the light source.

A method of reading an image on an original, comprising:

• illuminating the original by a light source;
• outputting a color image signal by a color sensor receiving light reflected from the original illuminated by the light source;
• outputting a monochrome image signal by a monochrome sensor receiving light reflected from the original illuminated by the light source;
• adjusting the color image signal from the color sensor by an adjustment portion using color adjustment condition;
• adjusting the monochrome image signal from the monochrome sensor by the adjustment portion using monochrome adjustment condition;
• and
• setting the color adjustment condition and the monochrome adjustment condition by a setting portion based on a color image signal from the color sensor that receives light reflected from a reference member illuminated by the light source.
