A method for measuring an observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA), the method performed by a terminal and comprising:

• acquiring information on cell ids of neighbor cells;
• acquiring at least one of information on bandwidth of neighbor cells and information on bandwidth of a reference cell;
• and
• measuring a RSTD (Reference Signal Time Difference) using positioning reference signals, based on a minimum bandwidth between a serving cell's bandwidth, a reference cell's bandwidth, and neighbor cell's bandwidth.

A user equipment for measuring an observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA), the user equipment comprising:

• a transceiver unit to transceive signals;
• and
• a controller which is configured to:
• acquire information on cell ids of neighbor cells,
• acquire at least one of information on bandwidth of neighbor cells and information on bandwidth of a reference cell, and
• measure a RSTD (Reference Signal Time Difference) using positioning reference signals, based on a minimum bandwidth between a serving cell's bandwidth, a reference cell's bandwidth, and neighbor cell's bandwidth.
