Semiconductor laser

A semiconductor laser comprising:

• an optical resonator including
• a first cladding layer,
• a ring-shaped active layer formed on the first cladding layer,
• a ring-shaped second cladding layer formed on the active layer,
• a first electrode formed inside the ring-shaped active layer and second cladding layer on the first cladding layer,
• a ring-shaped second electrode formed on the second cladding layer,
• a first insulating layer formed between the first cladding layer and the active layer, formed from an inside wall toward an outside wall of the ring shape, where an edge thereof on the outside wall side is on an inner side than the outside wall of the ring shape, and
• a second insulating layer formed between the active layer and the second cladding layer, formed from the inside wall toward the outside wall of the ring shape, where an edge thereof on the outside wall side is on an inner side than the outside wall of the ring shape;
• and
• an optical waveguide optically coupled to the optical resonator.
