Abstract
A base station transmits control message(s) comprising media access control dedicated parameters. The media access control dedicated parameters comprise a time alignment timer value for a primary cell group and a sequence of at least one element. Each element comprises a time alignment timer value and a cell group index. The time alignment timer value is associated with the cell group identified by the one cell group index. Each time alignment timer value is selected from a finite set of predetermined values.

- a) transmitting, by a base station to communicate employing a plurality of cells, at least one control message to a wireless device, said at least one control message:
- i) configured to cause in said wireless device:
- (1) configuration of a primary cell and at least one secondary cell in said plurality of cells;
- (2) assignment of a cell group index to a secondary cell, said cell group index identifying a cell group in a plurality of cell groups, said plurality of cell groups comprising:
- (a) a primary cell group comprising a first subset of said plurality of cells, said first subset comprising said primary cell;
- and
- (b) at least one secondary cell group, a secondary cell group in said at least one secondary cell group comprising a second subset of said at least one secondary cell;

- (2) a sequence of at least one element, each element comprising one time alignment timer value and one cell group index, said one time alignment timer value associated with a cell group identified by said one cell group index, each time alignment timer value being selected, by said base station, from a finite set of predetermined values;
- and
- b) transmitting, by said base station, a timing advance command comprising:
- i) a time adjustment value;
- and
- ii) a first cell group index;
- and
- wherein a first time alignment timer corresponding to a first cell group identified by said first cell group index starts or restarts in response to said base station successfully transmitting said timing advance command to said wireless device.
