Blocking a selected port prior to installation of an application

A system, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor performs operations, the operations comprising:
• installing, by an installer application, a test application by binding a socket to a selected port of a plurality of ports, in response to a blocking of the selected port;
• testing a first function of the test application by executing a first code path that uses the selected port, and subsequently unblocking the selected port;
• and
• testing a second function of the test application by executing a second code path that does not use the selected port.

A computer program product, the computer program product comprising:

• a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therewith, the computer readable program code configured to perform operations, the operations comprising:
• installing, by an installer application, a test application by binding a socket to a selected port of a plurality of ports, in response to a blocking of the selected port;
• testing a first function of the test application by executing a first code path that uses the selected port, and subsequently unblocking the selected port;
• and
• testing a second function of the test application by executing a second code path that does not use the selected port.

A method for deploying computing infrastructure, comprising integrating computer-readable code into a computational device, the computer-readable code in combination with the computational device performs operations, the operations comprising:

• installing, by an installer application, a test application by binding a socket to a selected port of a plurality of ports, in response to a blocking of the selected port;
• testing a first function of the test application by executing a first code path that uses the selected port, and subsequently unblocking the selected port;
• and
• testing a second function of the test application by executing a second code path that does not use the selected port.
