Percutaneous posterolateral spine fusion

A method of performing a spine fusion procedure, the method comprising:

• inserting a trocar into a body through an incision;
• inserting a dilator over the trocar;
• inserting a delivery tube having a longitudinal slit over the dilator and removing said trocar and dilator;
• decorticating a transverse process region by inserting a decorticator into said delivery tube and sliding said decorticator along said slit;
• inserting a pusher instrument into the delivery tube;
• and
• pushing a bone fusion substance via the delivery tube and also along said slit to the transverse process region.

A system for performing a spine fusion procedure, the system comprising:

• a trocar adapted to be inserted into a body through an incision;
• a dilator adapted to be inserted over said trocar;
• a longitudinally slit delivery tube adapted to be inserted over said dilator;
• a decorticator adapted to be inserted into the delivery tube with its working end projecting through said slit to decorticate a transverse process region;
• and
• a pusher instrument adapted to be inserted into said delivery tube to push a bone fusion substance to the region.
