Compounds of the general formula (I),

• their tautomeric forms, their stereoisomers, their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, and pharmaceutical compositions containing them wherein “R1” represents H, optionally substituted groups selected from linear or branched (C1-C6), alkyl, haloalkyl, (C1-C6)alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, heterocyclyl, heterocyclylalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heteroaryl, heteroarylalkyl, alkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl, or the groups represented by (CH2)mCO2R4, (CH2)mCOR4 or (CH2)mCONH2 wherein R4 at each occurrence independently represents H, groups selected from linear or branched (C1-C6)alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heterocyclyl or heteroaryl and m=0 to 3;
• “R2” represents H, cyano, nitro, formyl, linear or branched (C1-C6) alkyl, (C1-C6) alkoxy groups;
