Updating firmware using a mobile communication device

A computer usable program product comprising a computer usable storage medium including computer usable code for updating a firmware using a mobile communication device, the computer usable code comprising:

• computer usable code for receiving, at the mobile communication device from a data processing system that includes the firmware, a current version information of the firmware;
• computer usable code for storing, at the mobile communication device, an update of the firmware on a data storage associated with the mobile communication device;
• and
• computer usable code for instructing, from the mobile communication device, the data processing system to reboot using the update stored on the data storage associated with the mobile communication device.

A data processing system for updating a firmware using a mobile communication device, the data processing system comprising:

• a storage device including a storage medium, wherein the storage device stores computer usable program code;
• and
• a processor, wherein the processor executes the computer usable program code, and wherein the computer usable program code comprises:
• computer usable code for receiving, at the mobile communication device from a data processing system that includes the firmware, a current version information of the firmware;
• computer usable code for storing, at the mobile communication device, an update of the firmware on a data storage associated with the mobile communication device;
• and
• computer usable code for instructing, from the mobile communication device, the data processing system to reboot using the update stored on the data storage associated with the mobile communication device.
