Abstract
A method of making an article of footwear is disclosed. The method includes the steps of selecting a family of article types, selecting a customized article type, manufacturing an article of footwear with the customized article type and shipping the article of footwear to a pre-designated shipping address. The method may further include the step of limiting the number of articles of footwear manufactured with a customized article type to ensure exclusivity for customized article types.

A method of customization for an article, comprising:
- receiving a family of article types;
- presenting a range of article types according to the family of article types;
- receiving a user selected article type from the range of article types;
- and
- requesting the construction of the user selected article type.
The method according to claim 40, wherein the minimum number is 2.
The method according to claim 40, wherein the minimum number is 3.
The method according to claim 40, wherein the minimum number is 4.
A method of customization for an article, comprising:
- receiving a first article type with a first property;
- receiving a second article type with a second property that is different from the first property;
- receiving a user selected value from a range of article types between the first article type and the second article type;
- generating a customized article type from the first article type and the second article type according to the user selected value;
- and
- providing the customized article type.
The method according to 19, wherein a graphical interface system is provided.
A method of customization for an article, comprising:
- receiving a user selected customized article type;
- determining if a limit for the customized article type has been reached;
- allowing the user selected customized article type to be manufactured if the limit has not been reached;
- and
- preventing the user selected customized article from being manufactured if the limit has been reached.
A method of customization for an article, comprising:
- receiving a family of article types;
- presenting a range of article types according to the family of article types;
- receiving a user selected article type from the range of article types;
- presenting a range of article characteristics for the user selected article type;
- receiving a user selected article characteristic from the range of article characteristics;
- and
- requesting the construction of the user selected article type having the user selected article characteristic.
A method for customization of an article, comprising:
- receiving a user customized article type;
- receiving a user availability preference associated with the user customized article type;
- determining if the user wants to share the user customized article type;
- allowing the user customized article type to be used by at least one other customer when the user wants to share the customize article type;
- and
- otherwise preventing the customized article type to be used by any other customer.
