A lubricating oil additive composition comprising
- a. a first carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 200 to about 400;
- b. a second carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 60 to about 200;
- and
- c. at least one polyalkenyl succinimide.
A lubricating oil composition comprising
- a. a major amount of oil of lubricating viscosity;
- b. a first carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 200 to about 400;
- c. a second carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 60 to about 200;
- and
- d. at least one polyalkenyl succinimide.
A method for operating a diesel locomotive engine comprising lubricating said diesel locomotive engine with a lubricating oil composition comprising
- a. a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- and
- b. a first carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 200 to about 400;
- c. a second carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 60 to about 200;
- and
- d. at least one polyalkenyl succinimide.
A method for operating an inland marine engine comprising lubricating said inland marine engine with a lubricating oil composition comprising
- a. a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- and
- b. a first carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 200 to about 400;
- c. a second carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 60 to about 200;
- and
- d. at least one polyalkenyl succinimide.
A method of improving TBN retention comprising lubricating an engine with a lubricating oil composition having
- a. a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity;
- b. a first carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 200 to about 400;
- c. a second carboxylate detergent having a TBN of the actives of greater than about 60 to about 200;
- and
- d. at least one polyalkenyl succinimide.
