Abstract
One embodiment of the present invention provides a transceiver for a wireless mobile device. The transceiver includes a transmitter, a receiver, and a bandwidth-determination mechanism configured to determine a transmission bandwidth for the transmitter and a receiving bandwidth for the receiver.

A transceiver for a wireless mobile device, comprising:
- a transmitter;
- a receiver;
- and
- a bandwidth-determination mechanism configured to determine a transmission bandwidth for the transmitter and a receiving bandwidth for the receiver.

A method for generating a transmitter output for a wireless mobile device, comprising:
- determining a power budget of the mobile device;
- determining a transmission bandwidth based on the power budget;

- generating the transmitter output using the determined transmission bandwidth.
