Adaptively presenting content based on user knowledge

One or more computer storage media having stored thereon multiple instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a computing device, cause the one or more processors to:

• present, to a user, one or more automatically generated questions regarding subject matter of a body of text;
• receive a user input of one or more answers to the one or more automatically generated questions;
• and
• present the body of text adapted, based on a correctness of the one or more answers, to the user.

One or more computer storage media having stored thereon multiple instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a computing device, cause the one or more processors to:

• obtain a body of text to be taught to a user;
• display the body of text to the user;
• and
• repeatedly, until an estimated probability of user mastery of each portion of the body of text exceeds a first threshold or until user mastery of at least a threshold number of portions of the body of text exceeds a second threshold:
• automatically generate one or more questions regarding subject matter of the body of text;
• display, to the user, the one or more questions;
• receive a user input of one or more answers to the one or more questions;
• determine, based on a correctness of the one or more answers, one or more portions of the body of text that include subject matter that the user is estimated to have less than a threshold probability of understanding;
• and
• display, to the user, at least part of the body of text with the one or portions being emphasized.
