Abstract
An imaging unit has sensitivity to visible light and infrared light and captures an image. When the distribution of the color of each pixel in the image captured by the imaging unit is calculated, a deriving unit derives a predetermined feature amount indicating the range of the color distribution. An estimating unit estimates a lighting environment during imaging based on the feature amount derived by the deriving unit.

An imaging apparatus comprising:
- an imaging unit that has sensitivity to visible light and infrared light and captures an image;
- a deriving unit that, when a distribution of a color of each pixel in the image captured by the imaging unit is calculated, derives a predetermined feature amount indicating a range of the color distribution;
- and
- an estimating unit that estimates a lighting environment during imaging based on the feature amount derived by the deriving unit.
An image processing apparatus comprising:
- a deriving unit that, when a distribution of a color of each pixel in an image captured by an imaging apparatus which has sensitivity to visible light and infrared light is calculated, derives a predetermined feature amount indicating a range of the color distribution;
- and
- an estimating unit that estimates a lighting environment during imaging based on the feature amount derived by the deriving unit.
A computer-readable storage medium having stored therein a program for causing a computer to execute a process for processing an image, the process comprising:
- deriving a predetermined feature amount indicating the range of a color distribution when a distribution of a color of each pixel in an image captured by an imaging unit that has sensitivity to visible light and infrared light is calculated;
- and
- estimating a lighting environment during imaging based on the derived feature amount.
