Cloud-based storage deprovisioning

A device, comprising:

• a communication interface coupled to a network;
• a processing unit configured to
• create a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage,
• clear a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container,
• store a first data object in the first cloud storage container in the first region of cloud storage,
• receive, via the communication interface, a request to delete the first cloud storage container;
• set a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container based on the request to delete the first cloud storage container, and
• delete the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of a time period.

A computer-readable medium containing instructions executable by at least one processor, the computer-readable medium comprising:

• one or more instructions for creating a first cloud storage container in a first region of cloud storage;
• one or more instructions for clearing a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container;
• one or more instructions for causing a first data object to be stored in the first cloud storage container in the first region of cloud storage;
• one or more instructions for setting a delete flag associated with the first cloud storage container based on receiving a request to delete the first cloud storage container, and
• one or more instructions for deleting the first cloud storage container if the request to delete has not been rescinded prior to expiration of a time period.
