Multiple views of a geographic area on a mobile device

A mobile computing device comprising:

• a wireless communication interface;
• a display screen;
• and
• one or more processors connected to memory that stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• displaying a first view of a geographic area on a display of the mobile computing device;
• displaying a first menu with the first view of the geographic area, wherein the first menu includes a plurality of user-selectable options;
• receiving a selection of a one of the plurality of user-selectable options included in the first menu;
• and
• displaying, on the display of the mobile computing device and in response to receiving the selection of the one of the plurality of user-selectable options included in the first menu, a second view of the geographic area, the first view and the second view showing the geographic area in different manners.

A computer readable storage device encoded with a computer program product, the computer program product including instructions that, when executed, perform operations comprising:

• displaying a first view of a geographic area on a display of a mobile computing device;
• displaying a first menu with the first view of the geographic area, wherein the first menu includes a plurality of user-selectable options;
• receiving a selection of a one of the plurality of user-selectable options included in the first menu;
• and
• displaying, on the display of the mobile computing device and in response to receiving the selection of the one of the plurality of user-selectable options included in the first menu, a second view of the geographic area, the first view and the second view showing the geographic area in different manners.

The computer readable storage device of claim 20, wherein:

• the first view comprises a map view of the geographic area,
• the second view comprises an overhead image view of the geographic area,
• the selection of the one of the plurality of user-selectable options included in the first menu causes the mobile computing device to switch from displaying the map view of the geographic area on the display of the mobile computing device to displaying the overhead image view of the geographic area on the display of the mobile computing device, and
• the selection of the one of the plurality of user-selectable options included in the second menu causes the mobile computing device to switch from displaying the overhead image view of the geographic area on the display of the mobile computing device to displaying the map view of the geographic area on the display of the mobile computing device.
