Mode changing power control

An apparatus for controlling a power pack charging circuit, the apparatus comprising:

• a power pack status monitor receiver configured to receive information supporting a determination that an operating condition of a device satisfies a condition for halting charging of a power pack of the device while the device is connected to a charging source;
• a power pack output monitor configured to determine, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack output value;
• and
• a charging circuit controller, coupled to the power pack status monitor receiver and the power pack output monitor, configured to set, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack charging circuit output characteristic to an output value that is determined based upon the power pack output value to preclude charging of the power pack.

A computer program product for controlling a power pack charging circuit, the computer program product comprising:

• a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therewith, the computer readable program code comprising instructions for:
• determining that an operating condition of a device satisfies a condition for halting charging of a power pack of the device while the device is connected to a charging source;
• determining, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack output value;
• and
• setting, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack charging circuit output characteristic to an output value that is determined based upon the power pack output value to preclude charging of the power pack.

A communications circuit, comprising:

• a power pack;
• a radio interface configured to selectively wirelessly communicate according to a first wireless communications protocol and to wirelessly communicate in a second wireless communications protocol;
• a power pack status monitor receiver configured to receive information supporting a determination that an operating condition of a device satisfies a condition for halting charging of a power pack of the device while the device is connected to a charging source;
• a power pack output monitor configured to determine, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack output value;
• and
• a charging circuit controller, coupled to the power pack status monitor receiver and the power pack output monitor, configured to set, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack charging circuit output characteristic to an output value that is determined based upon the power pack output value to preclude charging of the power pack.

A portable electronic device, the portable electronic device comprising:

• an operating circuit;
• a power pack;
• a processor, configured to:
• determine that an operating condition of a device satisfies a condition for halting charging of a power pack of the device while the device is connected to a charging source;
• determine, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack output value;
• and
• set, while the operating condition of the device satisfies the condition for halting charging of the power pack, a power pack charging circuit output characteristic to an output value that is determined based upon the power pack output value to preclude charging of the power pack.
