Execution of applications distributed across a plurality of computing devices

A system comprising:

• at least one processor configured to:
• detect an invocation event on a computing device facilitating execution of one or more applications, wherein the applications include at least one remote application each for execution on a corresponding remote computing device;
• examine a search path to determine locations for the one or more applications, wherein the search path includes at least one indicator each associated with a corresponding remote application and indicating a remote location for execution of the corresponding remote application;
• resolve each indicator associated with the at least one remote application to determine a remote location for execution of the corresponding remote application;
• and
• enable execution of the one or more applications at the determined locations, wherein each remote application is executed on the corresponding remote computing device at the corresponding remote location.

One or more computer-readable storage media encoded with software comprising computer executable instructions and when the software is executed by a processor operable to:

• detect on a computing device an invocation event facilitating execution of one or more applications, wherein the applications include at least one remote application each for execution on a corresponding remote computing device;
• examine a search path to determine locations for the one or more applications, wherein the search path includes at least one indicator each associated with a corresponding remote application and indicating a remote location for execution of the corresponding remote application;
• resolve each indicator associated with the at least one remote application to determine a remote location for execution of the corresponding remote application;
• and
• enable execution of the one or more applications at the determined locations, wherein each remote application is executed on the corresponding remote computing device at the corresponding remote location.
