Damper assembly

A damper assembly for use in an industrial duct used for venting contaminated gasses having particulate matter suspended therein, comprising:

• an articulating member moveable in a first axial direction;
• opposing blades disposed upon opposite sides of said articulating member, said opposing blades being pivotable around substantially parallel axes oriented in a second axial direction, with said opposing blades each defining a distal edge and a proximal end;
• a link connected to each of said opposing blades between said parallel axes and said distal edge of said blades and said link transferring motion to said opposing blades from said articulating member.

A duct assembly used in an industrial process that generates an exhaust gas having particulate waste product separated from the exhaust gas by precipitation of the particulate waste product into a remediation apparatus, said assembly comprising:

• a damper disposed in a bottom wall of said duct assembly to substantially seal a opening defined by said bottom wall of said duct leading to said remediation apparatus;
• a first blade having a distal edge and a proximal end pivotable on an axis located closer to said proximal end than said distal edge;
• an articulating member movable between an open position and a closed position, said articulating member being connected to said first blade between said axis and said distal edge thereby translating movement of said articulating member to said first blade for opening said damper to allow precipitate waste accumulated on said damper to enter said remediation apparatus from said industrial duct and for closing said damper to prevent particulate matter from entering said remediation apparatus.
